Musings: The Good

It's the little things in life that make it so awesome: brunch with some amazing girls and finally doing the maiden twists hair tutorial from A Beautiful Mess!

Musings: Whew!

Can we all just take a step back and breathe! I've been a really bad blogger lately. This is due to the fact that I feel like I'm running here and there and everywhere. I've had things to do everyday both weekday and weekend. I've got things to sort, things to organise, things to plan, and things to pay. I've got too many things. But you know what it's so not healthy to just keep dwelling and mulling. Sometimes you need to just relax. I thought I'd drop a little line to this little corner of the web and just say... breathe. Grab a book, grab a blanket, and grab a snugly kitty. Take off your makeup, throw on some sweats and kick back. The world can just wait for a hour. I'm telling you this little bit of WHEW time can make sure you don't burn out and you don't get sick. I'm going to slow down every once and a while so I don't crash...

Musings: Pi Day

Today is that day of days. The day where we celebrate a mathematical property by eating a sugary dessert. Oh Pi Day. For those of you who are not North American here is a brief description:
March 14 = 3.14 (third month and fourteenth day) and well Pi = Pie I guess
* according to Mr.Tom this would not have been a thought in the UK as they always say day then month*
Last year I was in Spain for this magical day and thus had the time to bake one from scratch. Not so much this year, so Co-op baked it for me. Not as delicious/beautiful, but still Appily and Wonderful. Here is a compairison of last year to this year just because pie is a beautiful thing:

Book Review: Wuthering Heights

For years I've been swearing to myself to read the classics. Why is there so much hullabaloo about certain things? Why have they stood the test of time? Plus, I loved Jane Eyre so I thought I'd give Charlotte Bronte's sister a chance. They both must of had some life because this stuff is DARK. I had a conversation with a friend while I was finishing it and asked if it were possible to like a book when you hate every single one of the characters. I think I'll go with yes. The hate is what makes you like it. These people are despicable. They have every quality that makes humanity difficult to love. This I could bear with if they had some redeeming qualities. Nope. They do horrible things and die/run away. It is the perfect example of the fawning, fainting, fear of the 1800's. But Emily is such an amazing writer. She makes you feel like you are there. You feel each gut wrenching pain of every character. Read it but don't expect to feel all warm and fuzzy afterwards.

Home: KnickKnack Holder

I had quite a few nicknack's hanging out on my shelf so I was delighted when I found the perfect "home" for them. Sure it was forest green coloured and had an old mirror affixed to the back. Nothing a few coats of paint and a pry bar couldn't fix. Now it's hanging on my wall and looking oh so cute. I just need to go more places to collect more meaningful knickknacks! I also decided you might want to know their stories:

February Month Long Challenge: Skills

This one was a photo skill challenge: Negative Space, Texture, Motion, Found Faces, Contrast, etc. I thought I would share my favourites!

Home: Desk Organizer Re-Vamp

SO UGLY! I got this baby for $6.00 at Value Village. I was seriously attracted to the roll-up right side. So what better project then to paint this bad boy and see what happens. I lightly sanded this to get the varnish off and applied 3 coats of acrylic paint. I then sealed it with Mod Podge and Voila!
Couldn't be happier with the end result! Oh and that fabulous velvety yellow drawer liner was in the original!
