Younger, Blonder, and with NO CLUE what was going to happen. I'm still essentially the same person, but with more under my belt. I'm glad that I still have that smile on my face. I'm also glad that I have discovered tweezers! So young me xoxoxo!

Musings: Bygone Days
Tonight I pulled out an old shoebox that has all my backed-up files in it. I decided to go through them and maybe weed out what I had kept. There were a lot of old pictures. I decided to come on here and post two of High School Me:

Calgaryisms: Thrift Store Happiness Forgotten Loves
OH NO! I got these beauties a few months back and never did post them here! They are from the Mennonite Thrift Store (Mentioned Here) and good ol' Value Village. So here's a picture and then I'll gush:
(Clockwise from top): A lion picture frame that will look fabulous with Miss Sofia's face in the middle, a lemon covered Pyrex pitcher perfect for homemade iced tea, a silk scarf, a pattern for a kiddo outfit that I liked the look of, a bicycle necklace, an owl brooch, and an enamel flower brooch.
It's hard to see the piece d'resistance, so here's a close up:
Pure and utter cuteness!

Book Review: Vinyl Cafe Notebook
It's no secret I have a crush on Stuart McLean. This man is just so incredibly eloquent! This is yet another book I picked up at Second Story in Canmore (I mentioned it here). I thought it would be further tales of Dave, Morley, Sam and Stephanie. I was wrong. Pleasantly so. It is a collection of Stuart McLean's ramblings about life. Much like myself, he loves to write about things that perhaps not many people will care about. He writes them to get them down. He writes about Canada. You feel connected to the land, people, and the history. Mr. McLean tells tales of unruly rug and chair battles, summer jobs, and unknown curling rinks in rural Manitoba. I felt like he was inside my head when he spoke of not being able to get rid of books (even going so far as to pick them up from the side of the road). I laughed at how he didn't understand why people used bay leaves, and his thoughts on chewing on them like tobacco. Really he just touched my heart with how he can look at life through the scope of a writer. Above all it made this girly want to JOURNAL!

Home: Book Refashion
I don't know about you but I can't stand having anything on my bedside table. Unless that something is a book. I need a way to organise my cables as I usually charge my phone every other night. I got this fabulous hardcover book in my Grandfather's basement. It was actually a gift to my step-mom from her aunt. Well although it was an "Alfred Hitchcock" it was horrible. I guess maybe it was mid-60's "horror",but I didn't understand the fear after reading halfway through. But the cover is beautiful. So after checking to make sure that the book had no value, I crafted it!
I marked out a rectangle on the first page (roughly 1 inch edge around). Then I took an exactoknife and cut out the rectangle on all pages. I must warn you this is so time consuming (luckily I had Lost to keep me company). When the rectangle is cut out you need to Modpodge all the pages together. I started from the bottom but it got all wonky, so I had to start again from the top. Once all are attached to the bottom cover, run Modpodge along the outside of the pages. Let dry for at least 24hours. Fill with your clutter!

Musings: Grump
Do you ever have a strip of those days. Those days where you feel like this grumpy bumpy mess who just wants to kick a puppy? That's been my week. For absolutely no good reason either.
I think sometimes we need to just shake it all off. Is it really all that bad? I mean it hasn't even been rainy this week. It's been this beautiful, sunny, hot few days. The dandelions are in full bloom all over the lawns and everything is a happy sunshine yellow colour. Kids are starting to play at the park across the street. I've used the sunroof in my new car. I made myself an iced coffee. We open the windows at night. So apparently I need to pull into my high school repertoire and say "cheer up emo kid" to myself! I'll leave the grump faces for Sofia.
