Musings: The Awesomeness That is Scrubs

So I spent my summer vacation this year recovering from 2014 AND watching ALL the Scrubs. I never understood the big deal about it. And then I watched it. Now I love it. Here are some favourite bits:

And Life Exploded

To say that 2014 has been a wild ride would be an understatement. Starting wedding planning, full-time job, and than this little tiny event called "My Wonderful Man Getting A Visa!!!!" So needless to say life has been crazy getting him settled, and than wedding things. I never understood anyone when they said wedding planning will take over your life. Yes it will! So I will shoot off this "I'm not dead" to the internet, and return with postings, I hope, in the next few weeks. Wish me luck and send me caffeine!

I'm Back!

Like the Doctor, I'm regenerating to a different type of blogger. I'm still nerdy and crafty and really the same ish type of person, but a lot of things have happened in the past 6 months. A lot of things that are making me feel older. Perhaps a bit more wiser. I'd like to be a bit DEEPER (if that's possible) in what I blog about. Don't get me wrong I'm still making things and celebrating made-up holidays, but I'm also going through some stuff that's a little more heavy. So I'd like to put it here on my corner of the Internet so I can look back and reminisce/reflect on what I had to go through.

Here's to being more intentional!

That whole magical season went way too fast! It was off work Friday, plane Sunday, Christmas Monday and Tuesday and DONE! In the blink of an eye. I want family time and cutesy decorations back please! And a purpose to all the snow that's on the ground!

I never ever blog about my outfits. Possibly because work days are thus follows: dress pants, shirt, cardigan, scarf. Yep. Well today I did just that but it seemed cuter tan usual. I called myself the albino ladybug all day. Thought I'd share!

I'm doing pretty good. I'm being a big girl about how busy things are lately. But can you blame me for wanting a day where I can just do what I want to do?

Musings: Life Lately

It's been over a month. It's been a loooong month. A lot of things have happened:

 One of my best friends having a super cute baby! That's quite the distraction for sure.

A new job! I went from Substitute Teacher to Full-Time Teacher. This is quite the step. I've been pulling 12 hour days just to get a leg up.

Having to be creative... like my Teacher Barbie Halloween costume. But this type of creativity is on demand. Which is so much different then my past creative processes.

I won't be a regular blogger unfortunately. But that's okay. There is always Christmas Vacation!

Musings: 10+ years

I don't normally get excited about album releases. There are only a few bands that have stood the test of time with me. This way I can get excited when they release new material. No Doubt hasn't released anything new in 10+ years. The last album they released I got as a present from my first high school boyfriend. Yep. Ancient history. So let's just say yesterday was awesome and I cranked this the whole way home (which made rushhour more bare able)!

Musings: The End of Summer

I'm not a summer fan. Is that controversial? No, it's not because I'm Canadian and we get a month of summer. It's just the heat. And the bugs. If it weren't for backyard BBQs and park visits I'd be a gonner! I had probably one of my last patio dinners with a friend of mine. And well nature attacked! I had a wasp eat part of my dinner and stalk me for most of the meal. I WILL NOT miss bugs but I will miss the faint heat of the sun and refreshing breezes.

Musings: The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth

Being born in Calgary and sudo-raised I am no stranger to the Calgary Stampede. Being that this year was 100 years I thought "HEY LET'S EXPLORE". I'm not a ride person, so I ignore the fact that there is a midway (and not a ride person means I barf looking at the tilt-a-whirl). I also am poor-ish so I ignore the Grandstand and Rodeo which require tickets. SO this image of the Stampede will be totally Brittany-esk. I need me some mini-donuts redhot and rolled in cinnamon sugar. I played a game where you roll a woofle-ball onto a peg and won a minion on the first try. I ate an insane amount of cherry lemonade. I walked through the "Indian Village" and was in awe of the tee pee paintings. I went to the animal exhibits and met a lovely llama named Senor Miguel. It's fun to be a cowboy for a few hours, and it does make me feel that my city is a bit unique. I go every couple of years. But not unlike how I felt eating the deep-fried oreo pictured below, I'm good for a while!

Musings: Bygone Days

Tonight I pulled out an old shoebox that has all my backed-up files in it. I decided to go through them and maybe weed out what I had kept. There were a lot of old pictures. I decided to come on here and post two of High School Me:

 

Younger, Blonder, and with NO CLUE what was going to happen. I'm still essentially the same person, but with more under my belt. I'm glad that I still have that smile on my face. I'm also glad that I have discovered tweezers! So young me xoxoxo!

Musings: Grump

Do you ever have a strip of those days. Those days where you feel like this grumpy bumpy mess who just wants to kick a puppy? That's been my week. For absolutely no good reason either.

I think sometimes we need to just shake it all off. Is it really all that bad? I mean it hasn't even been rainy this week. It's been this beautiful, sunny, hot few days. The dandelions are in full bloom all over the lawns and everything is a happy sunshine yellow colour. Kids are starting to play at the park across the street. I've used the sunroof in my new car. I made myself an iced coffee. We open the windows at night. So apparently I need to pull into my high school repertoire and say "cheer up emo kid" to myself! I'll leave the grump faces for Sofia.

Musings: Shifty

So I bought it without knowing how to drive a standard. I was seduced by the perriwinkle and the cuteness! One driving lesson down and I can shift but I can't stop without stalling. Thus, tomorrow this chicky takes the bus! I think a few more hours going around with the Dad-o as co-pilot and I can drive this sucker. But there were too many tears for my liking tonight. Bed time for this one.

Musings: Family Outings

Heart Creek Trail outside of Canmore with the family the other weekend was beautiful. I must admit I was possibly crying at one point as the trail was covered in ice and a hill covered in ice + clumsy me = fear. But it was a great time with the family none the less. I snapped a few shots along the way as things were just starting to look like Spring. I would suggest going when the weather is a bit warmer because then you might avoid tears and sliding down hills on your bottom.
